York Landyacht Club

Based at Elvington Airfield near the Yorkshire Air Museum, five miles south east of the City of York, one of only two airfield-based clubs in the UK. Site has one of the largest runways in Europe, two miles of smooth tarmac with a huge square pan area & various service roads. Members sail various types of yacht miniyachts, Blokart, Xsail, class 3, 5, Standart.

Training & instruction available from beginner to advance level, if you are interested in trying the sport, why not try a taster session using one of the club yachts - cost £50 per person for the day.

If you have just bought or looking to buy a land yacht this is a great place to sail, you can get the best from your yacht by sailing with other club members obtain tips on yacht set up, sailing techniques & training for race events.

Membership 2012

£75 Individual, Full Year (£50 if joining after 30th June)
£75 Family membership, plus £20 for each additional family member
£50 per day Taster Sessions, includes a year's membership plus £10 per day after initial fee up to £75
£10 per day for Day Membership using own yacht - limited to three visits per year

2012 sailing dates, more to follow:

April Sun 8th & B/Hol Mon 9th Easter weekend
May Sun 6th & or B/hol Mon 7th
May Sun 27th
June 4th & 5th YLYC Regatta

Elvington airfield is situated five miles to the south east of the City of York on the B1228 York to Howden road sign posted Yorkshire Air Museum on most major routes around the York area.
