![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Landsailor Magazine The magazine has unfortunately come to an end and will be printed no more. Instead, all material - news, articles, classified ads, etc - will be added to the website. Rather than set aside a section specific to Landsailor, new content will be added to the existing areas. New categories can be created on the website if necessary. Not everybody has access to the Internet, so it is hoped that articles can still be distributed to the members, probably via email to the clubs' nominated contacts who can distribute it to their members. I've not thought the process through entirely yet, but I'll post details when available. There were some regular contributors to the magazine and I hope that they can still find the time to produce some material for the website. I can be contacted via the mail form if anybody has material to submit, or wishes to discuss an idea for new content. I hope to create an automated process on the website that allows people to submit articles (text, word processor docs, photos etc), but the easiest way at the moment is for people to contact me via the link above. Many people, past and present, were involved in the production of the magazine, which was enjoyed by many. On behalf of all the Fed members, the committee would like to thank them all, and in particular Paula who sadly has too many personal commitments to continue as editor. In the absence of any current Landsailor postings, website visitors might like to take a look at the many articles penned (typed?) by Gareth Rowland, that are posted on the Lincolnshire club's website A message from Brean ... We both felt that Landsailor, having reached it's 50th edition, a word of congratulations was needed to those whose fine efforts brought up to date news to all sand and land yachters. To those interested, the first newsletter came out in about 1955 edited by Teddy Benson of the FYLDE club. Only a few were published. It had a short revival in 1965, and in 1967, but again faded. In 1976 I noticed that after a FED meeting. minutes were always read out at our club meeting but to digest was always a bit of a problem so I started Sailander, printing it on a duplicator. My first edition was of one hundred copies, which quickly went. At this time I was helped by Alan Scantlebury. I then asked for a cover design which was won by David Brown, who from then on became Designer for Sailander News. I then continued as editor until 1980 when david Brown took over with help from Peter Christoferson. In 1984 the publication was taken on by Mike Hampton. He produced about 12 copies and then Paula Leah took over doing a wonderful job to produce 50 editions. Congratulations again and again. Geoff and Viv EllisBrean LYC |
